A Grade - 3.5"-4" Fibers

Minimum 3.5–4" measured at the top of the tail (the shortest hair up there), which means you're often getting length beyond that once you get further down. This is hollow or semi-hollow fiber through and through. It's the stuff we reach for when we're building the biggest, baddest flies in the box. It's also a favorite for spinning, stacking, and other tying styles where that hollow fiber does its best work.

Figure Eats Bucktail is the most premium bucktail available on the market today. Hand selected and custom-dyed in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Good bucktail is the perfect fly tying material for building beautiful, lightweight, and water-shedding flies.

The tails are put into several grades. The fiber quality and fiber length are what determine the grades. What makes these tails so special is not the length, but the quality of fibers. Most bucktail is ruined in the dying process, but here we take extra measures to make sure that does not happen.
